Hello,

I am hoping to get some suggestions on Phoenix & its sorrounding areas.

I am planning to relocate to the Phoenix area. I am self-employed & will be working mostly from home. My daughter will be going to school at Xavier College Prep. ( 4710 North fifth street, Phoenix 85012 )

My main concern is to keep the commute to Xavier within no more than
20 minutes drive.

I am looking for a suburban family setting. I would probably rent for at least maybe 6 months in order to get a feel of different areas to buy.

Ideally, I strongly prefer a Master Planned Community for Single Family Homes. So any suggestions on a Planned Community within the vicinity would be appreciated. Price range that I am looking for would be anywhere between $450K to $750K.

Possible areas that are within a 20 minute commute to 4710 North Fifth St. Phoenix 85012.

I was looking at North Scottsdale. Is that possible match ? I did a Yahoo map between Xavier & Shea Blvd. Scottsdale & came back at 18 minutes.

Is North Scottsdale, maybe Paradise Valley or may be Tempe a possible match ( unless that's too far)?

Your input would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks in advance to all

To APlus - The Paradise Valley area would be a good place for you to check out. If you are considering Scottsdale, be careful. Some areas of Scottsdale (even expensive areas) have seen quite an increase in crime. Stay away from Glendale and any area south of I-10. Try AZCentral.com for news and information on areas around the valley. Good Luck!

In traffic, 20 minutes doesn't get you too far. I wouldn't do N. Scottsdale as that will be longer. I'd check out somewhere closer to the 51 freeway, maybe up near Shea rd. That should be about 20 mins in traffic and less without.

Thanks Sabble. I appreciate the input.

So when you say 51 freeway & shea rd. , is that still scottsdale or what town would that be ? if it is still Scottsdale, what side of Scottsdale should I search neighborhood's online ? ( since its not north scottsdale)

thanks again

Hi ! I attend the church at Xavier ! Its very nice. Your looking too far. Just north of the school on Cental is where you want to be. Up to northern ave and about a strip of five miles your find your home. There are rentals as well. I live within this area and its nice and safe. Write me if you need more information !

Thanks Kenobi.

So what is the "Name" of the neighborhood that I should be searching for ? Meaning the "northern avenue & strip of 5 miles". Is that Phoenix ? If it is, what part of Phoenix should I be searching for in terms of the "Name" I input on my searches. Or is this area already Scottsdale?

Thanks again.

Just a reminder that speaking too generally about a whole city is misleading. There is nothing wrong with North Glendale, in fact it is an extremely nice area....again every city has it's good and bad areas so ease up on the generalities please.

Paradise Valley is supposed to be great - but unless you have a lot of $$, I would look elsewhere. The others are correct though - there are good and bad areas of any city. Glendale might be a good mid-priced choice. Everything there seems pretty new. That being said - the poster that said south of I-10 is a no-no is right. The scary pockets are too large to justify the nice ones. IMHO
