I know these guys here in the midwest are a big no-no if you have them in or around your house. Would this hold true in the southwest?

I'm not sure I am reading your question correctly. It sounds like you are asking us if we welcome cockroaches into our homes. I do, as long as they bring the beer.

I think they are a big no-no to have around the house ANYWHERE in the country.
