Several months ago, I narrowed my choices on a new home to Phoenix and Las Vegas. I was aggressively making offers on properties in both cities. I wound up with a place in Vegas. Here are my 10 reasons for choosing LV.

10. Higher incomes in LV.
9. Fewer Illegals.
8. More adult oriented entertainment.
7. More international flair.
6. Not so hot in the Summer.
5. Less traffic.
4. The schools couldn't possibly be worse.
3. No State Income Tax.
2. No Photo Radar.
1. The Governor doesn't look like Fred Flintstone.

I didn't mean that to be as rude as it came across. So I put a smiley on it.

best reason ever I could never live in Vegas, i ran from being mugged many times while visiting the strip. Now living in Reno is another story, i love that place. Tahoe is so beautiful.

Reno was on my list, but it seems like more of a place to visit, than to live.

Congrats on your decision!

Your screenname oozes of bigoted inuendo. Perhaps I am reading it incorrectly.

I hope so. Best to you!

Lol. love it. I agree with most of your reasons, and I like NV too, but man - less traffic??? reallly? Fewer illegals is right on, and I guess the schools really couldn't be worse.

I like reason #1 but at least Nappy is leaving. You can keep Harry Reid though!

As an Arizona AND Las Vegas resident, I think I am qualified to respond here:

1: Agree. BUT, he is a very poor administrator. AND. Az is getting a new Governor soon

2. Agree

3. Agree - for the moment. A state income tax is going to return to Nevada

4. Disagree. The Schools in Las Vegas are the worst in the nation.

5. Less numbers of cars - but, some of the worst traffic you will ever see. I prefer to drive LA or DC traffic than Vegas - ANY DAY.

6. A few degrees cooler - true. But, WINDY, WINDY. A "summer breeze" in LV is 35mph. It is not uncommon for the winds to hit 50mph++ during the summer. 110 degrees PLUS 35mph wind???

7. Agreed

8. No question (if that is important to you)

9. Not true. NOT TRUE AT ALL!!

10. Not true either.

You're kidding, right? Most of the employment sector of Las Vegas comprises of the hotel, casino, restaurant, and entertainment industry. The majority of those jobs pay minimal ... unless you're one of the "higher ups".

Somehow, I doubt this. Illegal immigration is a nationwide problem, and practically all metro areas are affected in some way.

This, I will agree with. There's no reason why adult oriented businesses have to be confined mostly to Las Vegas when there is a demand for it here & other places as well.

Vegas is naturally a world wide destination because of the gambling & entertainment industry.

Not really, unless two or three degrees cooler means anything. I've actually seen a couple of instances in July & August when the temps in Las Vegas are hotter than Phoenix ... especially when we have an active monsoon. It is a little less humid in Vegas during the summer because of the fact that they receive a lesser monsoonal effect. That also translates to less rainfall. Also, the high mountain ranges to the west & north of Vegas tend to block the winter storms from dumping much rain on Las Vegas ... so they actually receive less winter rainfall than Phoenix too.

It's pretty congested around the Strip 24/7 ... but otherwise, you're right. Phoenix is much more congested overall. That only makes sense because Phoenix has three times the population of Las Vegas.

Public schools are bad all over the nation, which is why they need to be turned over to the private sector. However, that's another thread.

Absolutely right on these two observations! Those are two things I admire about Nevada. Obviously, a state income tax is not needed in Nevada because the gaming revenue pays for many of the services. No need for photo radar there either because apparently, the state of Nevada is not severely short on funds to waste like Arizona is!

HA HA! Good one! I'll give you some rep points for this. Worse than her looking like Fred Flinstone, she ACTS like Adolf Hitler! I'm glad her days as Governor are numbered.
