Oh, Joe "Talks the talk, and Walks the Walk"

Anyone who thinks differently is seriously misinformed.

I do not fully agree with his methods, but I fully support his cause, immigration is a big problem.

I do not think he was right when he invaded the home in Ahwatukee to serve a traffic warrant, and in the process the family's dog was killed by a MSCO officer and the house was burned down. From what I remember, they shot tear gas into the house, and that supposedly caused the fire.

EDIT - Here is the story: http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2004-...afternoon/full

• Just after the tear gas canisters were shot, a fire erupted and destroyed a $250,000 home plus all the contents inside. (The home's occupants believe the tear gas canisters caused the fire. Phoenix fire officials say the blaze was probably started by a lighted candle that was knocked onto a bed during the confusion.)
• The armored personnel carrier careened down the street and smashed into a parked car after its brakes failed.
• And in the ultimate display of cruelty, a SWAT team member drove a dog trying to flee the home back into the inferno, where it met an agonizing death.

"MCSO stormed the house believing there was a cache of stolen automatic weapons and armor-piercing ammunition. But MCSO got bushwhacked. Instead of finding weapons of mass destruction, they discovered an antique shotgun and a 9 mm pistol that appear to be legal weapons."

Yeah, talk about overkill...

KarmaPhx- Thank you for finding the link to that story. I had mentioned the incident, and been looking but had to quit before I could locate it.

That's exactly the kind of over-the-top stuff that he is famous for, that needs to STOP. Armored personnel carrier? What do you need to spend money on that for? If you really think that is what's going on, why not call in the ATF, who are the experts at this, rather than relying on your goons playing with their new toy?

But that new toy looks great in parades...

Has the MCSO ever officially released a budget the past few years? That seems to be the big sore point for the MC Board of Supervisors. Are the taxpayers still paying for the wrongful death settlements of Scott Norberg and others?

Arpaio seems like proof that as long as he rounds up a handful of illegal immigrants in an election year, voters in Maricopa County will tolerate just about anything else.

Many law enforcement agencies around the country have APC's.

In cases where law enforcement is taking fire - APC's are used to remove the injured or wounded, to move officers into safe locations, and to bring addtonal firepower to bear.

The City of Phoenix has, I believe, 3 APC's in their department

Yes, but to my knowledge, the Phoenix Police don't run theirs in parade routes or haphazardly run it through neighborhoods partially destroying homes and parked cars.
