Hello Everybody,

I just recently lost my job here in cold, and wet New Jersey. I currently have my house up for sale here, just listed it a few days ago. I am so tired of the high cost of living here and the crappy weather. My Mom lives in Surprise, so I can stay with her for a while doing a job search. I do see alot of accounting jobs, listed on jobing.com, careerbuilder, and monster. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and have over 12 years of experience. The lower pay doesn't concern me much, because the houses are so cheap out there right now. I keep hereing mixed stories on the economy, I know that it is very bad, but it is there still position for people holding degrees and experience? I am getting really scared now.

Thanks all so much for your help.

KPMG has a pretty sizeable operation here in Tempe. If you wanted to do a change you may find some luck in insurance as well. In general finance Edward Jones has a decent local presence as well.

Come on down !! My daughter has the accounting background and while she got laid off from a homebuilder here, she found another job quickly. Accounting seems to be a good field here. Post your resume on Career Builder and see if you get some contacts. PS She used a recruiting agency.

Thank you Finger Laker and PHx Barb. I just posted my resume out on Jobing.com. I just put my house on the market here this week. Unlike Arizona, houses are selling fast here. I talked to two recruiters today, and they told me to basically stay here, because there is absolutely no accounting jobs there. I see alot of jobs listed on Career Builder and Monster though, I don't understand them. I am thinking maybe they don't want any more outsiders to come in from out of state? Hopefully I am in the Phoenix Area by mid April.

I never had a problem finding an accounting job here and I don't have a degree but it has slowed down a lot this year. I have a job but I'm trying to find something closer to home. I'm tired of driving an hour.

Default Accounting Jobs

Sheena - What recruiters do you suggest to use for accounting jobs out there? I contact Ajilon and KForce. I also posted my resume online with Monster and Jobing.com. I am hoping to get some bites on it. I keep praying every night that the economy will start turning around, or I am going nuts worrying about finding something.

Thanks,
Dawn

Post on Careerbuilder also. As fas as recruiters go it just depends. I got the job I'm at through United HR Services, I have met many people that have used Professional Employment Solutions. The job before this one I got through Accounting Partners. Check also Robert Half and ATS.
