I'm going to be moving there soon and would like to find a gym. My main needs are weights, including a squat rack, and preferably bumper plates if possible. Kettlebells, pull-up bars, and gymnastic rings would be a plus.

Powehouse gym for sure. They are geared towards free weights rather than machines, great atmosphere.

I like LA Fitness there. It's on Scottsdale Blvd. It was built about three or four years ago. The old LA Fitness on McDowell Rd was grungey, good riddance to that!

There is a lap swimming pool and coed jacuzzi. You have all sorts of free weights and machines, also a whole slew of cardio equipment.

I was once really into body building but loved swimming. Body building slowed down my swimming. So I was in a quandary. Should I look like Ahnold or should I have a swimmer's body? I chose speed over bulk but have not completely quit weights.
