It's worth it especially in the credit bubble burst era where we are headed to double digit percentage unemployment - I saw this economic crisis coming since 2001 and stayed far away from real estate.

Oh, please.

Doostang.com is another great place for job seekers. They have top jobs from leading companies and firms in the nation. No recruiter spam, no 3rd party recruiter, and no phony jobs. All hand selected jobs. I used Doostang to get my job. I was quiet surprised by how well their job posting structure is.

No way. REAL companies post REAL jobs on REAL job boards like the ones previously mentioned, like Monster, Dice, etc. No company in their right mind is going to post their jobs on a board that costs money for candidates to access. Any board that charges money like that is a scam.

BTW, why do you ask? Do you know of one?

Default Kdog

Real Employers put jobs with agencys that cost the applicant every payday. Real employers pay hundreds of dollars to monster.com and other websites to list a job. Unemployment is almost 10%, Real applicants that want a job wouldn't think twice about paying 10 bucks to get a look at some Real jobs instead of recycled garbage from the internet.

Absolute rubbish. You are promoting some kind of scam.

I'm not promoting anything. But, why are you so hostile to this idea? Do you think every new idea is a scam?

Trying to elicit money from people who are out of work and can least afford it is despicable. As a hiring manager for both large companies and small, I wouldn't dream of associating my company's name with something so low. Plus, it's bad business. My competitors most likely would list their jobs where everybody else does, Monster and Hot Jobs, etc, and they would get the best candidates. My posting would only be viewed by somebody so desperate and stupid that they're willing to throw what little money they have away. I wouldn't want somebody that stupid working for me.

And no, I don't think every new idea is a scam. But I can spot one when I see one.

In addition to what some of the others have mentioned, LinkedIn is an excellent resource. If you don't already have an account, create a profile. Recruiters use it all the time to search for candidates - make sure you are searchable. More recruiting companies are using it to post jobs, but for an IT worker dice is probably the most widely used place for job postings. I think some other people asked the question, but what is your field of work in IT? That would help in directing you to any niche IT sites. LinkedIn also has a feature where you can follow a company. If you have some companies in Phx that you want to work for follow them on LinkedIn. You can see what sort of things they are doing in their company, who's coming, who's going and be on top of the potential opportunities before they are posted on job boards (if they even post for a position since many companies use their recruiters to find you not vice versa).

I recommend going to the websites of some of the large local companies. Most will list job openings and instructions for how to apply.
