Would like to know what phoenix folks think of El Mirage suburb.
Is it a good place to live? Is it a safe place to live?

There are some good and bad areas of El Mirage. You have to be very careful with what neighborhood you choose if you decide to live there. One of El Mirage's next-door neighbors is Surprise, and that is generally a nicer town.

Also don't move to El Mirage if you are concerned about jet plane noise since its in the flight path of Luke AFB.

I work with a number of people who live in El Mirage. There are many newer neighborhoods with nicer homes. There are also some areas that are not desirable. Be careful, check it out before you make any decisions.

Stay away from El Mirage. I used to live there in the new neighborhoods, and it is bad news. My dad owned a house there from 2003-this past may. The problem with it is, the houses may look nice, but the neighborhood punks are what the problem is. When those houses were first built, they were cheap. My dad paid $118,000 for it. 4 bedroom 2 bath, 1600 sq ft. The houses were cheap. All the crime moved back in after they tore down the old crack houses.

There is always some homie in his ricer driving around selling drugs to the kids. There is always more grafitti on the walls and street signs. There is always trash getting dumped in the desert next to the neighborhoods.

Also, if you have a nice car, don't count on it being there too long. My dad had a park avenue that was stolen one night. Thank god for the key fob, the anti-theft locked up the brakes after about 500 ft, and nothing was stolen. There was a key still in the ignition. We suspected it to have been someone from Brake Works in Surprise, since he had it there the pay prior getting the brakes serviced.
You paint won't look nice for too long. The hoodlums in the neighborhood will key the **** out of your paint. My dads Park Avenue, and later his G6 were keyed to hell, because it looked like he had money.

In 2004, some junkie out of nowhere started talking dirty to my sister when she was over visiting. Her husband jumped in, and they guy went home (4 houses down across the street,) and came back with a kitchen knife. My dad called the cops, the guy came into my yard, my dad got him on the ground with my M1 Carbine, and held him until the police arrived.

In the winter of 2003, I was walking to my bus stop to go to school, when a Helicopter came in for a landing in a field between the neighborhoods. Apparently someone had casturated a man, and dumped him naked in the neighborhood. He died in the yard of someones house after he had rang the bell.

Don't move to El Mirage. Move to Surprise.
