Kind of hit or miss in that area. Personally, I'd stick with apartments near the Loop 101--it's hard to go wrong with that since it's all fairly new. If you'll be attending the school for a while, you could sign a six-month-lease, which will give you time to figure out exactly which areas are good.

That school is at 59th Ave/Greenway...it's not a bad area, just older (from the 70's and 80's). There are small pockets of trashy homes scattered in the area (maybe Renters)....but, it's not a high crime area (like Maryvale). There is a Ray's Pizza at 59th Ave/Greenway. The Wal-Mart at 59th Ave/Bell was recently remodeled into a Super Wal-Mart.

Like the above poster wrote...nicer and newer apartments are near the 101 (several miles north) and also near Arrowhead Towne Center Mall (around 83rd Avenue/Bell). There are like 3 apartment complexes across from the school, but they are older....if you are seeking a convenient commute. Generally, it is a safe area.

Default thanks

it has been awhile since I have seen that area
I have heard bad things about the Still water, apts. Indigo Apts, usually anything at $ 600.00 a month and under for a one bedroom in those areas , I don't hear good things about the large cheaper complex's in Gelndale ....
But DESERT VISTA is more expensive but I ahve heard good things about those apts...

cheers
Wil

You're gonna find good and bad sections of anyplace you go. Glendale has mostly nicer houses and apts., but there are gonna be seedy areas mixed in with the nicer areas!!!!!!

Just because something is older doesn't mean it's more seedy.

Older is better in some Cases!!!!!!!!!

Default ...

If you are planning on living in the apartments adjacent to the school, the crime is pretty bad. I was a student there last year and several people had bikes stolen, car windows smashed, and various things like that happen.
As another person said, look at the complexes a couple miles north, near the intersection of 58th ave/Utopia
Many students lived there too and it was much nicer.
