Yes.

Within the next decade, it is expected that all Prisons (not the county jails) will be run by private contractors.

Is Phoenix out of it's mind? No, but I would check on any friend of mine who thinks because they are cutting back on his time (just like most businesses in this state are) that the Department of Corrections is going to shut down prisions. First, you question is about Phoenix? What does a city government have to do with State Prisons? Hmm, uh, are you still drunk? If you think Phoenix is expensive, and you think Vegas is better? No one I know in any business has ever been able to last long in Vegas. The only businesses that I know of there recently that are stil raking money in are the casinos. How many people can go to Las Vegas right now, except maybe hookers?

This is not good news, especially if it is going to happen. Private prisons pay their employees much less than the state prisons.

Well it's not good news for your friend, but it might be good news for taxpayers and the state budget if it reduces the state's costs.

The state budget of Arizona is already done. People in Arizona are leaving in groves now, and there is absolutely nothing that is going to change that. As people leave, the taxes and revenue decreases, making Arizona the cesspool it has now become. My best friend was always the biggest cheerleader for Phoenix that there ever was, until recently. Phoenix is going to go down, and it will become the willd wild west out there again. The problem lies in the stupidity of the people who were appointed to run the place. The same thing is happening in Vegas, but at least they do not resort to stupid tactics such as photo radar like Arizona does. We are vying for City Center to pull us out of this, but it is doubtful that it will unfortunately. The cool thing with me is I am kind of a nomad. I have no kids or family, no property a decent amount of savings, and a large credit line. I will leave Vegas too if this continues. My friend is talking about moving to Corpus Christi, Texas, since he has family out there. I hate Texas, as I have lived in Dallas, but he claims Corpus Christi is really cool. I just might join him.

Actually, the budget is NOT done. There is another special session coming up on the budget.

And, people ARE NOT LEAVING Arizona in "droves". Total falsehood.

Phoenix is a cesspool? And people are leaving in groves? As in Orange Groves? Or maybe they're leaving in droves? Point out some statistics that show substantially more people are leaving PHX than moving to PHX. I know people aren't coming in like they were when the American economy was better, but there has always been people leaving and coming to PHX.

The economy is not great anywhere. It is better in Texas and Louisiana currently, but that's temporary. If you want to constantly follow around where the best economy is every 2 years, then good for you. I'm doing just fine here, and so are ALL of my friends and family that live here or in So Cal. Don't try to lump us all together.

Oh yes they are, and this applies to both Phoenix AND Vegas. A quick search on Craigslist for car ads will tell the whole story in EITHER city. Phoenix does have a lower unemployment rate than Vegas, which I have said multiple times. What I did not realize, in which my friend pointed out, is the state of Arizona is FLAT BROKE, even more so than Nevada. In fact, the ONLY state worse off than Arizona is California. My buddy told me January is going to be the turning point when his job situation will be laid down. The fact is Arizona does not have the money to pay his $21 an hour salary, so they need to bully him, and treat him like crap to make him quit,so they can hire some unqualified kid at $15 an hour. As I said, Arizona has a bunch of unqualified idiots running the show, and it WILL be their down fall. Think of this, we have Harry Reid, and Arizona has John McCain. Not only that we have a very respectable sherrif name Doug Gillespie, unlike that POS over there who always makes the news here as the laughing stock he is. With that being said, we are still in horrific trouble in Vegas, so I can guarantee it will be even worse so in Phoenix.

You can dispute my grammar, but you can not dispute what I am saying. As I said before, I love Vegas, but the writing is on the wall here too.
