Hi,

We're relocating from the UK in Feb, looking for a single house so we can house 2 small dogs, and not have to bring a boat load of furniture. No kids and no plans!

We prefer to rent a furnished house, with a pool and yard, not too far from Camelback/16th St. maybe a 30 min max commute. Having to leave the dogs now and then it would be good not to have a condo unless it has the best soundproofing in the world.

We prefer a bit of green coming from the UK, but understand it IS the desert.

So a few questions;

1. Anyone recommend a good rental agency or resource for that type of home?

2. Best area for greenery/low crime/least congestion/amenities (we have shortlisted to Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and about 3 miles from Camelback/16th St.)

3. We've budgeted for $1500 per month, excluding elec, gas, water/sewage, are there any other charges we need to be wary of as in the UK we have Council tax for things such as police, trash collection etc? Is this realistic?

4. Being on a bus route or close too would be helpful, but not essential, as we'll buy a car once we pass the driving test.

Thanks muchly in advance.

I would pick the Camelback location if you are thinking more along the lines of bus routes. Scottsdale is heavily car dependent until you get downtown. The real town of PV is also the same, but if you are using PV to describe the PV Mall area rather than the town of PV, there are quite a few bus routes over there.

Central Phoenix is also older and has more mature landscaping, so if you are seeking trees and greenery, you are likely to find more of that in the older areas as well. Newly developed areas of Scottsdale still have mostly small trees supported by wooden posts that are thicker than the trunks, and low shrubs manicured into little cute balls. Hardly feels natural in my opinion.

On the other side I would bet you will find more furnished home rentals in scottsdale but maybe more furnished condos, lofts and patio homes in the central phx area. Trash collection, sewer etc. is usually included on your water bill here, and not usually an extra expense unless you live somewhere rural that has wells for water, not likely in any of the areas you are considering.

I can DM you some suggestions on rental agencies. Not sure what I can post here, but $1500 ought to cover you for a pretty nice place just about anywhere.

Thanks that would be great! You should be able to DM or email them.
