Greetings.. I am moving from Maryland to the Phoenix area in April. I've looked a countless rentals all over the valley, but am fairly focused on finding something in either the NWGlendale area or Scottsdale. My budget allows for $1000/month for rent. If anyone out there knows of any rentals, esp. by owner, I could use the assist. 2x2, 2 cats 1 small dog, garage, fireplace, unfurnished, AC, and a large bathtub :-) if possible. Thanks!

I think you will more likely find a place of that description in NWGlendale for $1,000 or less. Not sure about Scottsdale.

Glendale definitely; Scottsdale, quite possible----------remember that average housing prices in the latter city have deflated close to 50% from 2007.

What part of Scottsale are you looking at?????? Scottsdale is pretty big and diverse.

The Rents in n. Scottsdale are going to be on the high side - quite a bit more than 1 grand every month. Maybe s. Scottsdale would be more in your price-range.

I think Glendale would be cheaper but the farther north you get the pricier it usually gets. Good luck!!!!!!!!

I think I am going to keep focus on zip code 85308 for now, the Glendale area. Now.. looking for the options of moving household belongings.

I don't think you would find something nice in Scottsdale for that price range.

I live in west Glendale, (85307) and you can get an apartment here cheap. It really depends on what you're looking for. There are a couple of older complexes that have 1 bedrooms for around $550. a month, that usually includes all of your utilities except electric.

These are not ghetto apartments in bad neighborhoods either! If you can deal with popcorn ceilings and outdated appliances you can save yourself a lot of money. The trick is to stay west of the 101, you can find some sweet deals but you will probably have to commute for work.

There are many nicer apartments over on 79th ave and Union Hills area by the mall. My daughter was looking there and the rents were not too bad at all. Go to Rent.com.

2-3 years I would have agreed: these days Scottsdale has been beaten by the housing implosion so $1,000 for a nice 2 bedroom place is feasible. Remember that many places in that city have seen their prices cut in almost half since 2007.
