Phoenix vies to host GOP, Dems' 2012 conventions

I think the only downside to Phoenix hosting a political convention would be the time of year (summer). However, practically all events would take place indoors where there is ample A/C, so even the heat shouldn't be much of a factor ... especially when other cities that are much more uncomfortable (high temperatures AND stifling humidity) have hosted Presidential conventions in July & August.

So what does everybody else think? It appears we are facing some competition in the bidding process. All I know is that regardless of the summer temperatures (and your own personal political views), it would be a boost to the economy if Phoenix were to host one of the conventions.

Minneapolis got the GOP presidential in late August-early September...I have spent may years there at that time...don't see much difference and I don't think they would care much Go Phoenix All they can say is no.

I would be excited by this. Absolutely! We should compete for this thing and bring it to the valley! I know as Arizona continues to grow and acquire more electoral votes, this state will be a battleground state so the Democrats will need to start taking Arizona seriously. I know Obama has an interest in Arizona for the next election because he thinks he can win it.

Either party's convention would be a boon to the area's economy.

Bring 'em on......

McCain will be there either way; Dems or GOP. It doesn't matter to him.
