Hi everyone,

I'm a 30 year old single female relocating to the Phoenix area. I do not have children, so I don't care about schools. I want to be close to a decent nightlife and will work from my house, so communting isn't a concern. Where are some safe, clean neighborhoods I should check out?

What do you want from a neighborhood? Things like how important schools are, how willing you are to drive places, and if you like to go out on the town regularly are nice to know.

I just read your post in the Vegas section. Did you get a job in Phoenix? I ask because the job market is just as bad as in Vegas.

I would suggest the Mill Ave. area of Tempe (more of a college atmosphere), downtown Phoenix or Midtown Phoenix on North Central.

Those would all place you near decent nightlife/entertainment and put you on the light-rail line.

If you want to be in Phoenix, the near north area around Central and Indian School is very trendy. Check out Hawthorne Condominiums, Park Central or Landmark Towers, rentals from $650 & up.

Scottsdale has a great downtown with many restaurants and clubs also very in, or check out the art galleries and wine bars. A couple of places that might work are Woodland Springs or Sunscape Villas from around $750 & up. There are a few more I just can't think of them right now.

If you want to be a bit more upscale, but a little further away from the downtowns you might want to check out Sienna Condominiums in Scottsdale. 10 mins to downtown Scotts, but safe and very nice gated community of young professionals. Close to the green belt and parks.

I'd come out and look around at the areas suggested, and get a feel for which seems right for you, as all the information on the internet won't give you that-- you can only get it in person. Even once you make the move, you could come and stay in one of those extended stay hotels in a couple of different areas while you choose something. Best of luck in your search, and welcome in advance!

Chandler. Anywhere in Chandler then. If you are anything like me, you will also love how many of these bars out here are offering ride service to and from.

Now I sound like a drunk.
