Planning a move to the greater Phoenix area in the future. I am an RN and wondering what the job market is like currently for nurses in the Phoenix area ( Peoria, Scottsdale, Chandler...) Any insight would be helpful..

There is a big nursing shortage in the Phoenix area, and an RN should not have any problem finding high compensation in any part of the valley. If azriverfan see's this, he can probably answer better, as I believe he is a doctor.

Decent; there are many new hospitals in the area and you should check out sites geared toward the nursing profession in Phoenix or look at openings for specific hospitals and health care companies;

Banner Health
Phoenix Children's Hospital (undergoing a MASSIVE expansion adding a 15 floor tower to the west wing of hospital and have family working here:http://www.phoenixchildrens.com/prof...ls/for-nurses/).
Mayo Clinic
Banner Children's (in the East Valley Chandler I believe, a new facility)
Even look into a position at the expanding ASU School of Nursing and Healthcare Innovation and UofA/ASU Medical Center

These are just a few of the options that with some availability...

Wow, I didn't know there were now three Children's Hospitals in metro Phoenix; Phoenix Children's, Banner Desert Medical Children's Hospital, and Cardon Children's...

The light rail is closets to St. Joseph's Hospital (7 blocks from LRT station), Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center (12 blocks from LRT station), Kindred Hospital (1 block from LRT station), Phoenix Children's Hospital (16 blocks from LRT station), ASU/UofA Medical Center (School of Medicine is a few block in downtown from multiple stops), the ASU School of Nursing and Health Care Innovation is in the same area as the school of medicine.

The Cordon Hospital in Mesa is about 2 miles south of the nearest LRT so would mostly require a bus transfer and recommended for Phoenix Children's as well since it would be a good 16-20 blocks depending on which area of the hospital you'd access...

County Hospital is on 24th St so it is a bus ride from LRT as well.

St. Luke's Hospital in Phoenix is also near a LRT station...

EDIT: almost forgot that Phoenix Baptist Hospital (a very good facility with new expanded facilities) is a block north of a light rail station.
