I am so very sorry to hear of the tragedy that occurred Thursday night and the tragic passing of Gilbert police Lt. Eric Shuhandler. My condolences to everyone involved. So sad that now, two little girls are fatherless, and a mother has lost her son, not to mention all of the other family and friends. It is just amazing that any of the other 50 officers involved in the chase were not injured. Just curious, is the death penalty legal in Arizona?

Our prayers are with the family....

My father was a police officer for 30 years and all of us understand.

What a tragedy. Thoughts and prayers with Officer Shuhandler's family.

We recently lost six officers in three separate incidents since October 31st here in the Pacific Northwest. It leaves a hole in the community and one shaking their head at humanity. How have we become such a hostile society that disregards authority? Such a sad day.

What is also amazing is no civilians were killed or injured in this chase, and thoughts definitely with his family, I am sure whomever he was close to is a stronger person with his love for life and for his profession. He seems to have given his all in what he did.
