I was looking at several homes in southern phoenix and wondered if they are too good to be true. I read that south of Baseline Rd is good. All homes I have looked at are a little north of W Basline, south of W Southern Ave and east of S 27th Ave. I really like their location to shopping, churches, etc. I have no children so I'm not concerned with schools. And I work from home, so commuting is not an issue. The homes are in and around "Lantana Estates". Is this a safe area? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you moved east a few streets, to 19A/Southern, you would be in the epicenter of the 'South Phoenix Hood' and Lindo Park neighborhood.

The only area that I would consider worse would be 24st/Broadway.

Probably too good to be true

south of baseline and preferably south of dobbins between 19th ave and 27th ave are safe.. many multi-million dollar homes on acreage lots that back onto the mountain, great views of the city as well.

There are lots of new developments in the 85041 zip. I have lived in this zip for more than ten years and like the area. Check out the 85339 zip, too. The whole area is finally starting to grow and attract younger families. In some of the older neighborhoods you will find horse properties. It is just a short ride by horseback to South Mounatain Park, which is not only used by horse owners for riding, but there is also a lot biking and hiking.
