I have recently been laid off and am now playing housewife. I need wanted to get back into photography but need a refresher and access to a dark room. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could take a traditional photography class (none of this digital crap)?

First off, in my opinion, digital isn't "crap". There's no need to bash other art forms when asking for help from other artsy and photo people.

That said, there are lots of places for you to look for classes. The Maricopa Community College system has lots to offer--there are colleges all over town. I took a great photo class at Mesa Community College once. Other ideas: Shemer Art Center (through PHoenix Parks & REc) or Scottsdale Artist's School.

Ditto on the digital. To the OP try it you might like it.

I took a class at Phoenix Community College last year. They were good. My class was in digital photography but we took a tour of the facilities at PC. PC recently renovated their art facility. It was very nice. Almost makes me think about taking a class in film photography.

If you want to find a course at any of the local community colleges go here:

I would like a refresher in traditional with a darkroom also, but I don't consider digital crap....one plays into another and when you get the understanding for film (basics) it will carry over to the digital with a new and easy twist...
