With responses like those to the OP, I am renewing my love for Phoenix!

Main street is resisting the tree huggers as well as big government and bailouts. The tide is turning.

But your computer was still on three minutes past eight-thirty.

I'll bet my brother did.

He bought a electric lawnmower because he said "I want to save the planet!"

I told him, what you think that electricity did'nt come from some pollution somewhere else.

I also told him he is full of BS, if really cared, he would get a old fashioned human power push mower.

I didn't know they were doing that tonight but in any case I try to do what I can to respect our planet and be responsible by recycling and not littering.
I don't think JD expected to get so many smart-ass responses...he was only asking after all.
I know some people take things to extremes but caring about our environment and wanting it to be able to support future generations is not something I think should be ridiculed!

I own a restaurant in Georgia and hosted a special candlelight cocktail party. We served canapes using locally grown and organic ingredients. I also came up with a special cocktail for the evening--Candlelight Cocktail with Organic Peach Nectar, Amaretto and Stoli Vodka and served organic wine and locally made beer. My guests enjoyed the romantic atmosphere the candlelight created and felt good that we were doing something to help save the planet. Too bad this can't happen more than once a year.

My wife & I hosted a poker party last night. We cranked up the heat to make everyone comfortable. Of course we had to have plenty of lights on so everyone could see. At 830 I took a quick break to go make sure every light was on in the other rooms. I just realized I forgot about turning on the lights in our closets. Oh well. We did have 5 tv's on in various rooms showing the basketball game. I'm sure my meter was spinning like a top!

But today it's back to normal, common sense living only using the lights we need. We don't need a special designated 'hour' to incentivize us to do that.
