Anyone know of a website I could go to to find the different "personalities" of the 55+ communities? They all look the same on paper, so this would help alot.

Is there any of the communities in the Phoenix region for 55+ that are known to have more singles of both sexes there?

Anything helps as I cannot get out there yet..but I'm coming this year.

I doubt that such a site exists. I can tell you that we do get different "vibes" from the different 55 communities here. Can't tell you about the population of singles here but I did read that the Villages in Florida is a swinging place LOL. Trilogy/Vistancia seems different than the Trilogy/Encantera. The Vistancia location which is located in north Peoria is very upscale and the population are well off or still working. Very active group over there. The other communities would be Del Webb which has several in different locations. The Sun City Grand is very nice and then you have the Festival in Buckeye that seems a little more down to earth but way out in the boonies. You would probably be wise to come and spend some time at each one before making a move.

You could watch that new TV show that is set in Sun City Grand - I cant remember the name! But Im sure it is EXACTLY what life is like for the majority of people that live in the community! LOL

Very interesting question, especially since we purchased our home without comparing communities (luckily we are very happy where we are).
MotleyCrew has mentioned the newest communities. There are many, many more. Here are a couple of websites that have comprehensive listings - Phoenix AZ Real Estate - Active Adult Retirement Communities and Scottsdale Active Adult Community Age Restricted Communities Senior Retirement Homes (http://www.scottsdalearizona-homesforsale.com/seniorcommunity.htm - broken link) (says Scottsdale but lists them all).
Do you want a new home or a resale? A new community or a sold out one? Our community has been sold out for many years but some houses have been extensively remodeled and updated, or you can get a relatively inexpensive home and update it to suit yourself.
Do you want a gated community? Golf courses? Proximity to shopping and medical care? Does the distance to the airport matter?
HOA fees and buy-in contributions should be a major consideration, also what percentage the HOA has increased and who controls that.

There are plenty of social networking and dating sites for seniors, but I am not sure if they would break down into local communities or not.

There are more active communities than others, meaning they're more geared towards sports, but unfortunately I am not too familiar with any of them besides Sun City West, which has a good mix of people.

Hello TootsieWootsie,

There are no demographics on the number of singles in the 55+ communities. There is a site that has focused on the newer Active Adult Communities, and a few of the Master Planned communities throughout the greater Phoenix area. Mod Cut: No links with less than 10 posts, please DM to OP if you wish.
