So, what do you think? My daughter said there aren't too many. I was wondering because if it's extremely impracticle then we'll sell it (my husbands's car) before we leave and buy a new one when we get to Phoenix. And also, is there a reasonable place to go to get my car windows tinted?

There are lots of black cars in Phoenix. I have owned a few myself. Is this a joke post somehow?

I've owned a black truck since 2003. My only complaint is when it barely rains it spots up pretty easily. Heat-wise I can't tell a difference from other vehicles. I do have 5% tint on all windows (except windshield of course) which has helped tremendously.

Tinting the windows helps with any car. Black cars are very hard to keep looking good here with all the dust. Yes, the black car absorbs more heat, but with A/C and tint on the windows to a legal level, you may not notice much difference.

Black Cars look great in any climate, Annie . . . WHEN CLEAN and POLISHED.

However, in spite of being somewhat of a Car Nut . . . I'm too damn lazy to maintain a Dark Colored Vehicle but they do exist all over Arizona.

Is a black car a bad thing to have in AZ?

The thought seems to be that black (or dark-colored) vehicles look like they're "hotter" and therefore the people in them must be uncomfortably over-heated. However, by correctly tinting the vehicle's windows and correctly using its air-conditioning, the heat inside the vehicle shouldn't be that much of a factor.

The fact is that darker colors absorb heat, and lighter colors reflect heat. All you have to do to verify this is to touch the hood of any dark-colored vehicle during the noon-day heat. The same could be said about wearing dark-colored clothing during the heat of the day.

I have a dark colored car, almost black, and wow does it ever get hot when sitting in the sun. I can just imagine what the summer will do to it!

But I just roll down the windows and I barely ever use air conditioning. Even on the 100 degree day, I was out driving around with my window down, as well as the passenger side window down halfway and I feel fine. Mind you, this is when I'm wearing shorts and a t shirt. I don't think I'd want to do that with a business suit on or anything.

I'm thinking about tinting the windows, and I'm really wondering if it's actually worth the few hundred dollars I'd be spending on getting it done?

If you value your vehicle's interior it is well worth the cost. I Would also suggest a dashboard cover.

That depends on how much your vehicle is exposed to the direct sun, Acrylic.

Also, the super dark tints offer very little, if any, additional protection from the heat and UV damage over quality "legal" tints. They are more for the "thug effect" than anything else.
