I'm guessing Photobucket is ok...

By displaying or publishing ("posting") any Content on or through the Photobucket Services, you hereby grant to Photobucket and other users a non-exclusive, fully paid and royalty-free, worldwide, limited license to use, modify, delete from, add to, publicly perform, publicly display, reproduce and translate such Content, including without limitation distributing part or all of the Site in any media formats through any media channels, except Content marked "private" will not be distributed outside the Photobucket Services. All my albums are private, but that doesn't seem to prevent Photobucket from using them does it.

I wonder if there are any "safe" photo sharing sites? Smugmug?

I use smugmug pro and not seeing anything that indicates they can sell or let anyone use a members photos....if someone finds differently let me know please! thanks

i use smug mug pro too. i guess the 140.00 a year gives you some rights.

What I do at such websites is to only store photos that are very small, somewhere under 550kb in size, and this can easily be done as follows (I use CS5):

a. Trim the photo to perhaps 850 horizontal pixels, which in turn sets the vertical length automatically.
b. Save the photo " For Web," which results in a very small image that looks good on a computer screen, on the Internet, E-mail and such, but not good for printing nor stealing.

Here is a sample (notice that I left the number assigned by the camera intact):
