That’s right, you read the headline is correct. Over the weekend a diver, Markus Thompson, found a camera at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, just off the coast of British Colubmia. He salvaged the camera, poked around a little bit (determining that the camera had been dropped into the water in August 2010), recovered the data off the card and, using Google+, found the owner.
I bet the owner about had a heart attack when they dropped the camera into the drink. I know I did when one of my film cameras failed an impromptu swimming lesson years ago.
Very Cool!
Canon should soon be using this in an Ad I presume.
Actually SanDisk should use it in an ad. The camera make is just a side note because you can tell, seawater sure filled it up. Now if the interior was still dry, THEN Canon should be plastering it all over every Photography magazine on the face of the planet.

in the article they did say that most all SD cards will hold up in water....now the camera...I would have tracked down a diver and paid for him to go down asap to recover my camera then hope to hell my insurance covered the oooppps!
Wow. This is actually unbelievable... Imagine what you could do with technology nowadays... And to think they still found the owner. It's just such a waste of perfectly good camera is all.

jury is still out on that one...may not be a waste of a camera.....if you clicked on the link to follow this...the camera I believe is being sent out to Cannon to be cleaned and see if it is repairable!!! that would be even more awesome it works after this!
This makes me want to become a diver, just to see what I can find!
