Very cool, love the distortion. How much was it? Would it fit a A100 (old Sony)?
Thank you! There is a Sony A-mount version which will fit your Sony A100 and can be found for $260-$280. It is marketed under several brand names (Samyang, Rokinon, Vivitar, Bower) and also as 6.5mm, 7mm or 8mm fisheye but they are the same lens.
I got mine designed for Sony E-mount (for the NEX-series) which was just launched, currently retails for $350-$400 but I picked it up off Amazon on a limited two-hour lightning sale for $247 on Friday. I could have purchased the A-mount version as it can be used on my NEX as well, but I opted for smaller size of the lens over portability between my Sony A55 and NEX-3. Besides the E-mount version being more compact, it is also spec'd with maximum aperture of f/2.8 (it is f/3.5 for the A-mount version) but that doesn't make any difference.
I will highly recommend this lens. It is bound to bring out a whole different perspective to taking photographs (makes you think, pretty much all the time). It can also double as an ultra-wide lens, on its own or via distortion-correction software. I shot a couple of 360 degree panoramas as well (I will try to post panoramas using this lens later). It works surprisingly well with Sony's sweep panorama feature. I'm also very surprised with the lens' ability against flare, when shooting straight into the sun.
BTW, it is a manual lens, but that should be a non-issue. You could leave the lens on f/5.6 or f/8 all day and walk around shooting.
If you want one, you should get the Samyang 8mm f/3.5 fisheye for your A100. Note that you could buy Vivitar or Bower or Rokinon version as well and they are different only cosmetically so simply look for the best deal. I find the Vivitar version to be most attractive. I think it is marketed as a 7mm lens (and IIRC, under Bower brand, as a 6.5mm lens).
It is a lot of lens for $260 or so, and may be able to deliver great results as an ultra-wider angle alternative as well. Samyang went creative with this lens and has filed a patent on a unique stereographic projection which appears to make the difference, whether you want to retain the fish-eye effect, or transform it into an ultra-wide rectilinear image.
