I am going back to school after being a SAHM. I was looking into the possibility or getting a degree in photography as i have a love for it and am very motivated to learn all about it.

Does anyone have a degree? Associates of bachelors?
What are you doing with yours?

I think I want to take mostly photos of children and scenery. I'd prefer not to get into the whole wedding thing. What is the best way to get into the field?

I don't have a degree, but i was interested in photography since i was a kid. Everything i learned about photography was on my own, experimenting, reading, talking to knowledgable people about the subject, etc.
Getting a degree can possibly open more opportunities, if i had to start over, i would go into Journalism and go from there. I don't think you need a degree to start your own thing. What matters, is that anyone can be a photographer, but not many can be an artist ) Everyone can take a picture, but not everyone can create an art.
You have to develop your own unique style that will diffirentiate you from others. What can you offer, and why would i chose you over the next photographer standing in line??

My brother in law's brother earned an AA in photography. He previously had earned a BA from Wesleyan and then a Masters in Journalism from Columbia but was looking to do something else.

He just threw himself into his course work and of course took pictures all over the place. I think he works as an assistant to a photographer but also has his own gig going. His work is pretty good.

Thumbs up photography degree...

hi there, im just new to this site im a student from ireland and im headin over to the US this summer as a photographer! Im doin a BA Honors Photography degree at the university of ulster, ive always been into photography and I to think that anyone can take photos but when your trying to make it as a photographer or artist you have to compete and learn with other people around you doing the same thing. I find it really helpfull having tutors constantly examing your work because its so easy as a photographer to think all your work is brilliant! I know im guilty of it!
but good luck with it anyway!
