Couldn't find the other thread, so here is a new one. Everybody has been searching and hopefully shooting just the right shot for the contest, but we all know, for every shot you feel is good enough to enter, there are several that is "oh so close" but just didn't make the final round in your eye. Here is a place to post them because personally I love to see more from your perspective than just a single frame.
It is also for posting ones that just didn't meet all the rules for the contest; too old, photographer is underage (taken by son or daughter), anything that you felt might have disqualified it from the current contest, but think it is worth sharing.
Here is one my son took in Michigan last week. Might as well use the same format as in the contest.
Sons name is Nicholas and he took it on April 23rd on the North side of Grand Rapids, MI using his little Vivitar Vivicam1500. He just calls it "The overpass"
My oh so close is of a loading dock at the Post Office in Grand Rapids. Just the way the light was falling and the angles struck me as kind of neat. I think my little Kodak point and shoot it was also taken April 23rd and "loading dock" seems right for a title.
I like the thread topic. And you're right, your son DOES have a good eye. Can I borrow some of his shots for the contest? I'd have a better shot of winning!
The picture below I took in January of this year...too old for the contest. Oh so close....
It's arki-texture, turn of the century Florida cracker style.
Carbondated, just the lens, or are the angles really that odd for the house? I like it! cool perspective.
I used a 28mm lens which gives the perspective..The sepia effect was done on the computer...I took it just after dusk last night after the lights were turned on. below is a photo of the main buildings using the same lens, but not processed.
Last evening I tried to change my mind about my entry to this photo of the rear entry of the legislative buildings, but the edit button was nowhere to be found....LOL
I do like this photo better than the one I entered, but as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and my eyes don't work as well as they used to...I like it but who's to say if others do?
