Colorock Quarry


Mine in Clark County, Nevada, USA.
Latitude: 36.36417 : Longitude: -114.70528

Nevada designated sandstone as the official state rock in 1987.


I guessing this where the miners lived. There are several foundations but this is the only building.

What wonderful photos! Minuteman, I love that shot of the oil cabin! The sky, the vastness of the scene is really breathtaking. Good subject for a painting...I'll have to get my paints out.

There are lots of good subjects in this thread. What is it that makes us enjoy old, rickety, fallen-down ruins, I wonder.

There was a time when equipment like this was used in the mining industry, probably still is in some but most mining these days is trackless. These machines have been painted and on display at a park in Sudbury, Ontario.
