This place (above) was as creepy as hell. The surrounding buildings almost totally enclose it, and the angles and shape of the enclosed area greatly amplify sounds, even sounds from very far away. I could clearly hear the sound of kids yelling and laughing at the high school prom over a mile away. Combined with the flute-like hiss of natural gas running through a nearby pipe the effect was really discordant and almost sinister. The extremely dim lighting didn’t help either. It wasn’t anywhere near this stark in reality, requiring a forty second long exposure to get acceptable values. Always bring your tripod!
