I just got a Canon SX10 IS recently, and my ONLY complaint about it was not being able to use a filter. Looks like my prayers have been answered. Hallelujah!

I also got one at Christmas this year, I have been in correspondence with the company since December they just updated me yesterday first shipment will be 2/20/09. I have one on order....

Hoya has Pro 1 filters designed for P&S ~ DLSR with the auto focus beam threw the lens... very pricey

Got the adapter to day to mount filters on the SX10is ~ SX1is . Made out of Darlin Composite, very well made. When looking at the outer edge of the lens barrel of either camera their is a small flange running from 10 ~ 2 o'clock position and again 4 ~ 8 o'clock position. Fits perfect ~ then rotate the mount and that's it, Locked in position.. About the same thickness as the frame on a standard filter. Has 4-5 threads for 58mm filters on the other side. Very impressed with the design..... very simple and inexpensive $14.95 + shipping....
Also you should purchase the 58mm lens cap from Lens Mate it has a tether and has a larger purchase area for your thumb and fore finger to pinch off the cover... the old lens cap will not fit over the 58mm filter.

Thanks for mentioning that the regular lens cap that came with the camera won't fit over the filter with the Lensmate adapter. I had not thought of that. Just one more thing to spend money on but necessary.

The Lens Cap from Lensmate is similar to the one that came with the camera. It has a deeper recess and wider finger ~ thumb grip. The tether is about the size of dental floss and about 4-6 inch long ( loop ) I'm going to modify it with a fishing leader with a swivel and clip.....
The cap as I said is 58mm and nest very nice inside the filter. I have a 30 year old glass no name filter just by luck..
The adapter + cap + shipping was.... 29 bucks give or take. I feel I got a great deal and a good product. ......

Also don't forget the Lens Cap that came with the SX10is will not fit on the filter ring, they sell a 58mm Lens Cap with a tether, it's deeper than the original has more finger / thumb grip...... worth the $5.95
