I recently bought a cheap 29x29x29 light tent/cube, mostly for the purpose of photographing my Ball Pythons (whom I plan to breed next year). Right now I only have a digital point-and-shoot camera - Fujifilm Finepix 8.2mp, so the quality is fairly limited... hoping to get a DSLR soon, as I mentioned on another thread, but I'm stuck with this in the meantime. Anyway, here are some examples of what I got with the tent - using just one dome light, since I haven't had a chance to get more yet. Any tips/comments are welcome, especially if you can assist me on getting better pics with a P&S camera! I tried both macro and auto settings, with and without the flash... macro w/o flash seem the best, if I can get more lights going. Speaking of which, how many and what type of lights should I get? And where should I place them? TIA!

Trying out the black "velvet" background... I need to steam-iron all of them!

(her eyes are blue b/c she's about to shed - also dulls her overall color)

Why so bright at the bottom? Is that from the light placement?

These are on macro w/o the flash... so much closer to their natural colors!

Then I tried using "autofix" on my computer... hmmmm... better contrast from the background, but I think it washes out the snake's color.

It's from the flash. Your lighting is better without the flash but you need to work on white balance - the ones with flash are a little cool and the ones without flash are a little warm. Some basic editing in other forms would really help as well, do you have Photoshop? If you don't mind, I can do some basic edits for you as an example.
