I've been there before on a bus and didn't pay too much attention to the ride, but the bus schedule to there is terrible, and barely runs. Doesn't even run on the weekend. I'm a fast walker, and I've walked further distances than that, just curious if its possible to walk there safely, without walking down any major highway roads. It looks like on the map BLVD of the Allies is the only road going in, is it pedestrian friendly?

The Blvd would be ok if you take the Hot Metal Bridge to Bates St to the Blvd. Alternatively you could take the Hot Metal Bridge to the Eliza Furnace Trail to the Junction Hollow Trail and come out right in Schenley Park.

That is what I would recommend. The only hard part is if you want to get to the upper part of the park, you will have a decent little climb at the end.

Which bus were you catching? You can probably catch the bus from South Side Works to Squirrel Hill (or Oakland, depending which end of Shenly Pk you want. (Either the 75 or 64)

take the 54C into Oakland and then you can take any of the 61's up forbes they let you right off at the Park at the top of Forbes right before it turns to and goes toward Sq Hill...Between all the 61's you have pretty frequent service even on the weekend...the 54C is problably every half hr
