I'm sure some would prefer a Whole Foods but I'll take what I can get. It will be great for those living on the east side of the Birmingham Bridge.

I'd take another Trader Joe's, not really crazy about Aldi's. There's always the one in Bethel Park.

It will be a real convenience for a lot of people in the area. It's not upscale, but don't forget that there are still a lot of areas on the South Side that are not upscale. It'll be great for the senior citizens who don't have cars and it's walkable or a short bus ride for many down at that end.

There's an Aldi's in Bethel Park? I had no idea--I'll have to google it.

Right on 88 south of Walmart, before you get to South Park Shops. When you see Danny's, Aldi is behind it.

Isn't there a Giant Eagle in the South Side? (Wharton Square)

How much is Aldi's really needed there? True, the vast majority of the South Side is not 'high class' but this prime location near some higher end housing and some at least medium priced retail and dining. Aldi's really doesn't fit the bill for those groups of people. I realize that others will use the location and that there isn't another food store in that area, but how far is it to walk, get a ride, or use the bus to go the what, 7 or 8 flat blocks to a pretty big Giant Eagle?

I had heard a while ago that people in Brookline were lobbying for a Aldi there, since I don't think there's any kind of grocery store there anymore. But maybe it would be too close to the Bethel Park one.

A lot of those people renting nearby are younger and are overpaying for rent. They probably have less disposable income than they would like. Aldi's may not be sexy, but their products are top quality and your bill at check out will be about half of what it would be at Giant Eagle, all else being equal. There is nothing wrong with saving money regardless of income.

What's up with everybody acting like Aldi is ghetto? It's where everybody shops in Germany, and in fact, most of Europe.
