I think FIOS was first available in Moon (back in 2006 or 2007). It should be available in Oakdale/McDonald soon. They stopped laying copper lines to new subdivisions so you can only get a landline through cable.

We have Comcast TV/Internet and satisfied with the speed (we don't download much though). I think we got a deal for about $80 a month for a starter digital package and medium speed Internet.

There are like 50 zillion channels and I only watch maybe three of them. The HD's start at 200 with Comcast.

I'm not sure what you mean by two sets of HD channels--we don't have duplicate HD channels (although we do have East and West versions of certain channels).
For example, I get ABC on channel 8 (regular), 210 (HD) and 804 (HD); the Food Network is on 49, 257, and 839. I've set all my favorites, but sometimes I like to click around the dial, and with two sets of HD numbers, the show I start on could be over by the time I get back to it.

It has completely changed the way I watch TV, i.e., I watch it a lot less.

Sometimes there are multiple HD feeds for local broadcast channels (like ABC), but I can't imagine they are actually piping more than one HD version of cable-only channels (all that stuff is coming by satellite from a central location, and they only send one feed). If more than one shows up, it might be a quirk of your settop box.

Edit: Oh, and even without dupes, we never click around anymore. Way too many channels.

So you somehow don't have the whole 800-series of HD channels? It's way beyond the networks. I have triples of virtually everything. Not the soap channel, and not the gay channel, and not MSNBC, but almost everything else. I end up watching my non-HD set in the BR 'cause it's so much easier to deal with.

Maybe there's a good reason not to do this. But I had been thinking it would be a decent alternative to cross the 62nd Street bridge and take Butler to Penn and into downtown.

On our FiOS system, channels 2-474 are SD, and then 502-931 are HD. 1500-1741 are more SD, and then come all the audio-only channels.

We do have duplicates of some SD channels. What we don't have is duplicates of any HD channels, and again that really doesn't make sense to do.

Oh, I thought you had comcast.

And no, it doesn't make any sense. That's my point.
