I listen to a variety of radio stations but WDVE is about only one of a few remaining that have a live DJ. Their morning show is pretty good.

That aside why do they continually support music and make reference to drugs. I am not talking about the 60's or 70's music, but today they played a rather weak playful tune about some farm boys who discover a magic weed and fall in love with spending their days care free smoking it. The song sucks, it's not even funny, but I guess it is suppose to be.

I've heard the evening DJ, his name escapes me, talking about his personal drug use, and from his report he does not have children. Not that many of our youth listen to DVE, but he is talking about this in the present tense, and so only justifies it to possibly older listeners who do have children.

I know there is a huge movement attempting to legalize some drugs, but last I checked they are illegal and using drugs can get you in trouble. I mean you can be arrested, lose your job, or tossed out of school.

Anyone hear what I am saying?

Sounds like Jim Stafford's "Wildwood Weed", (Vintage 1974), so while you may not know it, you are.

I haven't heard them play Peter Paul and Mary's "Puff the Magic Dragon" recently though...

If you don't like the way WDVE promotes drug use, then don't listen to them. Arbitron ratings drive the radio biz.

The OP needs to get over themselves. I can't believe the mentality of some people in the 21st century. Also, WDVE isn't funny at all, but c'mon. Stop with the "children" bullcrap. Weed < alcohol, and if you don't want people going to jail for doing something relatively harmless in the privacy of their own home (and not driving, of course), then you do something to change that instead of wringing your internet hands about "the children".

People still listen to DVE? When I used to listen to them (more than 20 years ago), they just played the same 25 songs over and over. You'd think people would have moved on to, you know, the 21st Century.

There's pretty much no excuse for anybody to listen to the radio anymore. Why do it? Political opinions? MUSIC? People sure love being spoon-fed garbage.

Many Pittsburghers haven't moved into the 21st century as far as musical tastes. Don't get me wrong, I like classic rock and hair bands, but you can embrace new music as well as the old. Not just enough adventure in Pittsburgh radio.

But yes, people still do listen to DVE, they are constantly in the top 3.
