Hi everyone,

I'm currently in the process of moving from North of Pittsburgh (fox chapel area) to a slightly smaller place (have a college roommate now, and its time to finally move on my own).

I'm looking for a 1 BR around the 500-600 dollar range, and I'm still relatively young (26). I'm most interested in regent square, but when I check craigslist almost all the adds are through "regent square rentals". I've had a bad rental experience before and usually seeing one company with all the postings brings up some slum lord type red flags.

Is there a good resource to find some legit, good landlords to rent from in that area? Just driving through?

While I'm asking questions is there any other places people can recommend? The only areas I really know besides regent square are fox chapel/blawnox/oakmont and the north hills (ross/mcknight).

Any advice would be helpful!

A lot of the places advertised as Regent Square on Craigslist are actually Wilkinsburg or Pittsburgh closer to Penn Avenue than they are to Regent Square proper. Apts. that are actually there look to run over $600. Maybe have a look at Greenfield.

We rented a place from this guy:

Page Title

We actually ended up suing him over our security deposit, and he is kinda strange in general, but he has several nice buildings/apartments in Regent Square and I would still recommend checking them out. Note he has a strict no smoking, no pets policy.

It is not impossible to find a modest place under $600 in Regent Square, but nearby you can also look in Park Place (Braddock and East End Avenue between Forbes and Penn, plus side streets), or in the Whitney Park area (Biddle and south down to Hutchinson, between Trenton and the Busway), or the part of Edgewood around Koenig Field (south of Hutchinson, west of the Busway, and north of 376). Rents should be a little cheaper in those areas but they are still walkable from the commercial area of Regent Square and Frick Park.

Neighborhood Realty Services

I can't find the rentals section on their website, but I know for certain the manage several properties in the Regent Square area, including some apartments. I would call their phone number listed and ask.
