Friend of my daughter enrolled and graduated from Pitt. Her WV parents took that very badly....

And absolutely--I could easily see the South Side being someone's favorite Pittsburgh neighborhood. Personally, we obviously love Regent Square (having chosen to live here now three times in a row), and I also love Downtown. Other people are diehard Squirrel Hill fans, some can't resist the potential of the North Side, and so on--there are many potentially lovable Pittsburgh areas.

A "posting history" can unvail the truth or tell a lie dependant upon whose history it is. As to the nicest part of Pittsburgh, personally, I prefer the South Hills although some may not consider that to be a part of the burgh.

I hate any part of the city and surrounding area that feels like an oppressive cookie cutter development.

The rest is fine by me.

Hell, I live in one of those oh-so-terrible "lower middle class black neighborhoods" north of Downtown that everyone warns people about.

Worst thing I've had to deal with here (other than someone breaking in a barely secured door right after we bought the place, ugh) is my neighbor next door being up bright and early working on making his house nicer looking. Working on his garage, repointing the bricks on his porch, putting in new windows, UGH, how horrible.

And then he offers his help to me for renovating this house in exchange for giving him a hand with some heavier stuff (he's an older guy who just had a hip replacement) that he can't quite manage alone.

Yeah, if I have to deal with this horrible horrible place I'm not sure I can take it for more than say... 10-30 years.

I disagree with that. Expressing an opinion has nothing to do with truth vs lies. There are many posters with whom I agree and disagree on a regular basis. A post should be judged by the content of the post, not the name above it.

That's okay. Disagreeing can lead to a more productive conversation. If we all had the same opinions, it would be a pretty boring world. To clarify, when I said "truth or lie", it was meant to suggest that stating ones opinion and interpreting the words that were chosen can often either confirm or deny the reputation of said person giving the opinion. In my opinion of course.
