Howdy all!

Fiddlehead checking in. My last night in your lovely city. I have had a great time. I will be heading out for another Primanti's Sandwich and beer presently, staying out until about 11 pm. I would gladly buy a beer for any of you who have replied to may posts over the last year or so.

I will be heading out of my hotel in Oakland and eating/drinking at Primanti Bros. in Oakland until about 10:30 or so, then heading over to the Fuel and Fuddle for another. My cell is 707-498-4447. Said phone will be answered by a guy with a biblical name that rhymes with spaniel. I'll be in an orange shirt, with a very conspicuous yellow bag that says ESA (Ecological Society of America). I will also have two pint glasses in front of me. One for myself and one for Tiger Beer. I don't expect to see anyone, but to paraphrase the guy in Dazed and Confused, "It would be much cooler if I did!"

I'll post my impressions when I return to Oregon.

All the best,

Fiddlehead

What's the word on the street from the rest of the ESA folks at the conference? Do you think it went well? I saw a ton of them downtown this week.

I would say the conference went very well. Just about everyone I spoke with reported being pleasantly surprised by the Burgh. The theme of the conference was climate change, and there were many interesting presentations on science, policy, etc. on that topic.

Sorry to have provided such short notice to touch bases with CD folks. I did not have internet access at my hotel, and was running around, then realized I should at least give a shout out.
I will report my impressions on another thread in a bit. Having just arrived home in beautiful, smokey Oregon, I will leave it here for tonight.
