Here's the list of in-season markets, with hours and start/end dates:

Pittsburgh area farmers markets and farm stands

And here they are on a map, color-coordinated by day of the week:

Interactive map: Farmers markets 2010 (http://www.post-gazette.com//pg/10125/969528-34.stm - broken link)

Farmers@Firehouse, in the Strip on Saturdays, is generally well regarded, although the space is small and I can't imagine how it could handle the crush of Strip visitors well. I've always wondered how the year-round East Liberty market is. And come September we'll have the new Public Market in the Strip. That I presume will also be year-round.

Also within the city limits to check out:

Bloomfield on Thursdays
Phipps on Wednesdays
Oakland on Fridays
South Side on Tuesdays
East Liberty on Mondays

Probably a couple I missed. I dunno how good they are, but as you can see, any day but Sunday there is a market. The Downtown ones are pretty meh IMO, but if you happen to be working downtown near one it can't hurt to stop. An excuse to go to Market Square on Thursdays is not so bad now, construction is almost done!
