...not to mention the now wake zone around the point (not always enforced) that would limit where you can operate them.

The less jet skis on the river, the better, IMO. I am highly biased because I am a fisherman and they are a nuisance to me and operators are not always as responsible as they should be.

So what you want is more responsible operators, not less overall.

And as a long-time operator of a speedy little 18.5" Wellcraft Eclipse, fishermen are a huge nuisance when you're trying to have fun.

That's what I was thinking. A small, speedy and nimble Jetski would not be very good at sharing the river with a giant, lumbering barge. It'd be kind of like having active train tracks randomly placed across a NASCAR track. And the racetrack would operate with a large portion of the NASCAR vehicles being operated by student drivers.

As a former owner of 2 jet-skis, I would never take one on the river. Too much garbage floating around that gets sucked up in the engine. It's bad enough on a lake with sea grass. Also, maintaining those things is not cheap, one of the reasons I'm a former owner. And, at the lake where I had mine, they rent jet-skis, for about 90 bucks an hour and you are limited as to where you can go.

Just don't think it's a good fit for Pgh. You can rent pontoons in Sharpsburg, I believe, not quite as flashy, still fun.

There was a time when you could rent them at or near Sandcastle.

I used to ride mine on the rivers all of the time. The only time I had problems with garbage was after a big storm, and that was usually just lots of branches.

Unlike a kayak, jet skis are obnoxious.

As someone who lives within earshot of one of the rivers: no thank you. The speed boats are bad enough.
