I thought it was just me.

I got here too late for the "old" Mancini bread. I've seen shows on WQED that cite it as another great reason to be glad you live in Pittsburgh, so I tried a loaf. It was like Wonder Bread. Bleah, Mancini.

I get good bread at Penn Mac. I think it comes from Breadworks. I buy the ciabatta to eat with St. Andre, and when I was there on Wed., I got some really good whole grain sandwich bread. Kicks Mancini's ass.

I know an owner... well of a large sandwich shop in Pittsburgh with several locations. He called me up one day and asked me to eat a sandwich. I told him the bread was too spongey and the crust was not crisp at all. He then told me to eat another one and it was very good. He told me he was going to have to change suppliers of his bread do to quality control. Mancini's bread is done, but still living on the old name for those that really could eat anything and be happy. Seems to be working for them, because I am sure their costs are really cheap and they still sell bread somehow. Shame.
