Most of those strike me as unsurprising, but I wonder why Senegalese?

The eastern Europeans and Lebanese do not surprise me. The "Nationality Rooms" at Pitt were originally supposed to depict the nationalities of Pittsburgh, one of the great melting pots of all time. The Lebanese room is among the oldest. Later, I believe, the "nationalities" expanded to include some not so widely represented in Pgh.

But almost all those immigrant groups are WHITE! Pittsburgh doesn't welcome diversity, I tell you.

I was viewing quite a few other cities across the States....for example, Northern Virginia (DC area) which has HIGH HIGH Vietnamese numbers...but they never came up in any of the NOVA cities I looked at - despite Vietnamese being the dominant immigrant group above quite a few others in that area.

I think when it comes to Asians in particular, the top 100 counties are probably going to be found in CA, WA, TX, HI, etc...I mean, it's the top 100 counties out of...how many do we have in the States? Maybe 10,000 counties? (Just a wild guess).

Well, then, let's all hop into the time machine, and then we'll go back and turn away all of the WHITES and just let in all of the other colors so that we have diversity out the wazoo by the time we get back to 4Q 2010.

Oh no, I can't let that stop me. Seems like the place for me right now.
Mid-forties black female...going back to school for ADN.

Not trying to live in the ghetto just to be in a black neighborhood.
Just want to live comfortably, work, go to classess...buy my favorite
groceries, cook and eat well.

So how should I take that comment ? Help !

Gnutella was joking. There are plenty of black people in Pittsburgh, and while I won't claim there are no race-related problems in Pittsburgh, I don't think it is worse than typical for a U.S. city.
