They both have unlisted phone numbers, so there's no real chance they'll ever talk to each other...

i love how some people are so loud and certain there is corruption, as if it were a given. its so chic to be cynical. that gives you a pass to not really care or keep up with whats happening in the political machines.

i worked for a city dept. for a short while. it was like most places - you have the idealists, those who want to do enough to provide for their kids, and the slackers who were getting a free ride. ive worked for private companies that were way more unethical day in and day out.

look at that video of those idiot union jackasses getting stoned at the park - that doesnt raise anyone's ire? no one even commented on that.
if you are so certain its corrupt, tell me where. be brave and drop a name, or a department name, and id listen.

but oh, wait, that might mean pointing out the union guys (your neighbors) and not the business suit politicians. no ones willing to do THAT. lets just look the other way when 1/2 the labor force of the DPW takes off the monday after the Super Bowl while the city is paralyzed by a snowpocalypse.

I think you need to consider something before you go painting those guys with the "union is bad" brush--The city payroll is full of people who got there through political patronage. In other words, they got into the union because they'd been hired by the city, not that the city called the union hall and asked for workers. Patronage is the culprit in a lot of the city's employee issues. And it's been there forever.

It's an old example, but back in the early 80's, a friend of mine who worked for the city, asked if I'd be interested in a contract to do some pavement repair for the city. I said I didn't think I could get such a contract. He assured me that I could. "How?", I asked. He replied with one word. "Gigi"

Maybe it isn't huge, but think about the Boy Mayor for example. He might mot be embezzling, but look at all the things he has taken advantage of since in office, even though he was not supposed to.

Until winning the Democratic primary does NOT equate to winning the general election, as it does now, things will never change in the city. The political hacks and incompetents will still be in charge.
Just look at the current holder of the mayoral office. Could he hold down any kind of responsible job in the private sector?
