Sounds like fun, I have been wanting to visit Penn Brewery. That building is gorgeous!

Great! Here's the details on Penn Brewery:

The PENN BREWERY - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - Est. 1986

This place is located at 800 Vinial Street in the North Side, roughly across Route 28 from the Heinz Lofts. There is ample free parking to the rear of the building.

I still haven't heard head or tails on my own impending relocation, but I'd love to pencil in a date for December as soon as I learn for certain!

P.S. The place is exactly as old as I am. Good sign?!

reston runner - thanks for taking the initiative!

also, when/if you move to pgh, welcome to this community. i hope you find it 'normal' and 'real' (terms i used when i moved here).

i endured 3 long years in reston. close to the hour of my departure back to PA, i almost shed my clothes to dance in that stupid fountain (the one at West Market - named as if there were actually an open air market there or something).

to myself: is it possible to still hate a place after 10 months....?

It's a VERY good sign! And the actual building is the the site of the old Eberhardt and Ober Brewing Co. since 1848-so it's a real old building, looks authentically German in the Deutchtown neighborhood of the 'Burgh!

I still have what could be called PTSD symptoms over a place I used to live. It's been 5-6 months since I left. Fortunately, a lot of it manifests as happy moments, in which I realize I'm here now, not there.

At night, I sometimes sit in the dark at my computer, and it took me a while not to visualize being there every time I got up to go in another room.

Yep. Every other younger person I've ever known who has lived in Reston has HATED it. I'm actually the only one of my friends who is still here, and I, too, will be leaving shortly. It just doesn't feel like a "real" place.
