Credit markets are a B**** right now.....Unless you're NYC, LA, Chicago or SF its hard to get anyone to open up to new development.

I imagine the Mega Apartement complex at Centre and Craig is having the same problem for getting shovels in the dirt.

I recently read a report that contained survey results for national developers. Their general expectation was that as the economy picked up, the traditional coastal markets would benefit the most, and the Midwest markets would be relatively stagnant. And unfortunately they seemed to lump Pittsburgh in with the Midwest.

I personally think that reflects outdated thinking, both in general and as applied to Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, it may be a while before those attitudes die out.

Is this the parcel of land on the Giant Eagle block?

No across Craig..the Southwest corner if you're going north on Craig at Centre. Its the metered parking lot and up the hill are those Pitt/CMU student houses....that was suppose to make way for the "The Carlton" IIRC Apartment complex it was suppose to be like 300 market rate apartments.

Thanks. I'll take a closer look next time I'm over that way. I can't picture the student houses.

That's a drag. Squirrel Hill is still a great neighborhood. That lower end of Murray and environs could be more attractive near the Parkway.

Waterfront/high tech/3D killed that theatre.
I would be surprised if the owners didn't profit from the sale. They had good popcorn. Do the same people own the Manor theatre on Murray?

It is a major high traffic corner. Something will be built there. My son's are hoping for an ESPN ZONE! I suggested they should not hold their breath.
