We just moved to Pine from CT and we love it here. We spent 9 months looking all over (North/South) and almost bought in Fox Chapel. We are sooo glad we dodged that bullet.

Why didn't you like Fox Chapel if I may ask. I'm also relocating soon and thought Fox Chapel was one of the nice places - in terms of school district

I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with Fox Chapel, although the commute to downtown Pittsburgh is going to be awful for several years more.

Default ...

Find some land in West Deer to build on. For permission to archery hunt on it if you buy enough wooded acerage, I'll even help you clear and do some work. My buddy owns land up that way and it is a nice area for open spaces and outdoor activities. LOTS of wildlife, which of course, I like.

So far Gibsonia/Richland is winning because like hinsey86 said you can get a bit more space or acerage for a reasonable amount. The downside is a lot of planned development without trees and there is no "downtown" but no place is perfect. And so far it is the closest to the city.

We looked out by Tarentum today and saw property that was basically in the woods on a mountainside and that was cheap to buy but expensive to buildout and honestly a bit scary. Fox Chapel has space but seems expensive so far.

Now we're thinking of also looking for land in Gibsonia/Richland. Any additional info or thoughts are welcomed.
