I may have figured it out. Today, I saw a farm that was cutting all the dead cornstalks (way north of here). There was a large cloud of dust blowing along with it. I know I'm allergic to corn when it tassels. Some strains don't bother me, and others do (there are a lot of genetically engineered corn strains out there, too). So my guess is that someone cut their corn last Tues or Wed west of here and it blew through and got sorta stuck because we have forced air. It finally got moved out yesterday (mostly anyway). And the cornstalks might have been moldy, too - I'm allergic to that, too.

Pic-chic, where in Westmoreland County do you live because I've noticed a lot of people around here have gotten sick too, me included, and I'm in Greensburg. Other times, if I'm driving around the Irwin area during the late evening and nighttime hours, I usually notice a pungent sulfur-like smell in the air which can be strong at times. I remembered someone saying that it might be pollution from the steel plants in Clairton or Braddock.

Noticed a sulfur odor this morning here in Washington Twp... As for wells, yep, mine can get a little funky as well. Most odor I believe is produced from the water heater, which I disinfect and flush at regular intervals. Lots of iron content has been especially noticeable as of late.

One neighbor seems dead set on believing that any well issues, are caused by some far away rig that horizontally bored on their property, and fracked. There are a lot of very long established, very small gas wells around my house that seem to be of no harm to anything.

The Clairton Coke Works can def. be smelled in the Irwin / North Huntingdon / North Versailles areas when the winds and weather are just right.

My allergies have been bad as well - I think it is a combination of things, including the relatively dry weather we have had this fall.
