most profitable nonprofit ever.

upmc's pay is kinda medium compared to the pay for similar jobs in the area, and you can eventually hit a ceiling with raises, but their benefits are pretty fantastic.

That wasn't the case, I loved my company, I would go in to work when it was dark and leave when it was dark but they downsized, we all got severances. (that was in NC)

Then about one month later my manager called me at home and said he could get me in at his brothers company, the position was outside sales in Mobile Alabama. I respectfully declined, unfortunately I haven't spoken to him since.

You probably want to be more specific. What is your degree in? What kind of work do you do?

Project management is a very vague term.

That goes double for this economy. But in general, it's easier to interview from a position of strength where you have a job, than if you are out of work.

But no one told you NOT to interview for other jobs while still having a current job.

If you have experience in the energy, construction, or engineering industries consider Westinghouse. Google "Westinghouse Nuclear."

Yes, it's very hard to find a job, unless you already have one. Both of my kids got multiple job offers, once they had a job. Headhunters seem reluctant to want to refer someone who is unemployed.

Unfortunately that happens to many people in this economy who don't feel good about their current jobs but can't afford to quit until they find something else. Lots of families are in that position. If you have to kids to support, you can't quit, even if the job is driving you nuts. Of course that happened to all of those who came before us and lived through the depression, World Wars, etc. Just got to keep on keeping on until you find something else.
