Oh, and I forget what specials they had for happy hour, but Tavern 245 was a pretty cool place to go after work.

Edit: 5-7, half off all drafts. Works for me.

Agreed. The upstairs bar is a good place to chat with other Downtown workers.

Keep in mind if you are drinking a Belgium beer, the percentage of alcohol is very high. Many times it is 3-4 times higher than miller light or whatever most Pittsburgh are drinking these days. Taking that into consideration the price per drink isn't that much higher because you aren't drinking as much.

I know, I'm a home brewer, beer reviewer, traveled to Belgium etc. In my opinion Sharp Edge exploits people's lack of beer and beer price knowledge and overcharges. Putting their beers at half price during happy hour is about as close as they'll get to good prices so I'm all for it.

I do only drink there during happy hour and if I not there at that time, I drink Murphys. I think it is $5 a pint, which isn't insane. They also have a "mystery beer" that is I believe $3. That is an option. Belgiums are too expensive when not there at happy hour, but the thread is about "happy hours".

Blue Dust, across the tracks from the Waterfront, has half-off apps and taps on Thursdays and Fridays for happy hour, and is one of my favorites: Blue Dust Restaurant - 601 Amity Street Homestead, PA 15120

Another one we hit up pretty often is Over the Bar on the South Side. They do $1 off drafts and 1/2 off appetizers.

THIS

The ABV should have very little to do with the price of the beer. I understand high prices for small batch imports, but the Sharp Edge standard price for American micros drafts is still $7+. That fact withstanding, it is a great place for happy hour.

If I'm paying 7 bucks for a beer, the waitress better be topless!

That is a little too much like a Chili's or Damons feel. Not my cup of tea. If you around Walnut Grove, you might want to stop by Freeport Pizza instead. It is kind of cool little place.

Haven't been to Freeport Pizza but it is where Walnut Grove used to be and is owned by the same people can't imagine that it is much different.

Also, if in that area everyone should try Bob's Garage at least once.
