Do you mean Devon Road? It goes up the hill and ends up at the Bishop's house on Warwick Terrace? Beautiful street, isn't it?

Not with those dormers, but Aspinwall does have a lot of Foursquares in general. Here is a nice one for sale:

Aspinwall Real Estate - 204 Brilliant, Aspinwall, PA, 15215

Some less expensive options:

105 CENTER AVE, Aspinwall, PA 15215 (MLS# 844439) - Coldwell Banker Real Estate Services - PittsburghMoves.com
Aspinwall Real Estate - 219 Tenth, Aspinwall, PA, 15215

A couple common problems are there might be asbestos, and you might need a new chimney lining. Generally it is going to be doable, but you don't really know how expensive it will be until you open it up.

I wonder roughly what percentage of lower-priced on-the-market homes might have those types of problems, like asbestos.

I always felt like most would have cleared up the problem a couple decades ago, but one never knows...especially with Pittsburgh's reputation of being very thrifty, cost-savers, etc.

Asbestos remediation is incredibly expensive, not to mention unnecessary unless it's deteriorating and exposing fibers.

Asbestos was very commonly used in certain eras when lots of homes in Pittsburgh were built or modified, and was incorporated into things like insulation and tiles used in fireboxes and chimneys. The standard advice is indeed to leave it alone unless there is some reason to believe fibers could be getting into the air. Accordingly there is a good chance of there being some asbestos product inside a closed fireplace, in part precisely because it is nothing to worry about if you just seal up the fireplace.

Most of the fireplaces that I've seen in old Pittsburgh houses were never built for wood burning but were made for small inset gas heaters. This means that the fire boxes aren't deep enough to handle wood and you'd have to do a lot of work to retrofit them.

Not sure about Mt. Lebanon but it is pretty tough to find a house that big in Aspinwall. That is the house that everyone wants in Aspinwall but it is very hard to find.

Wow, I cannot believe how expensive those home are in Aspinwall. I don't think they will sell at those prices. It is a great place to live, but that is really expensive!!! There are a few homes in Fox Chapel that you can walk to Aspinwall that are cheaper. I would rather live there. You have the walking and a little more space. I am shocked at those prices.
