My paint is taking a beating by going thru the automatic car wash at least twice a week. Touchless just doesn't get the salt off. And my high pressure washer just turn to ice upon contact. I need a top notch detail to get the paint back in shape. Can't seem to find anybody that's as good as they claim to be, sadly.

To be honest, if you are running a car through those machines with the brushes flying around, you paint might have some pretty deep scratches. If you can feel it with you fingernail, forget it. Somethings won't rub out. The best detailer I know, other than myself, is a place called B&D on Plum Street in Verona, but I don't even think he advertises and I don't know his number.

Just going through a car wash won't really scratch it to the point where it can't be restored. I am wondering though why you're taking it to the car wash every week? A little dirt and salt won't really hurt the car or the paint, especially if it stays cold.

I have all my detailing equipment, but my garage is full and I have no place to do it. You need to be inside to do that sort of thing in this weather. Do you have a garage? What kind of car, and what color?

Guess if you feel needing a new paint job is just a normal restoring, I guess you are correct. I used to run a vehicle through a wash with the brushes. It scratched my paint to the primer, because the idiot truck in front of me was full of mud. I would never use a car wash again, but that would be up to you.

Personally I don't use "equipment" to buff my car. I do it by hand and feel it does a better job. Not as fast, but better. Never a swirl mark on any of my cars. It is amazing how poor of a job I see come out of most detail shops.

That's exactly why I would never use a car wash of any kind. However I have to believe that your case is unique and extreme; In over 30 years of detailing (thousands of cars), I have NEVER seen a car wash cut the paint down to the primer. In the vast majority of cases that I've seen where there are car wash scratches, the paint can be brought back. Maybe not like new, but pretty darn close.

But it does make the point clearly to NOT use a car wash.

I have a garage...Porsche...black...I talked to a guy in Cranberry he told me to wait until the weather breaks and then get it done. I had some college kids do it when I first got it and they were awesome but the semester kicked in and they have no free time. Scratches are not the worst I've seen or had before just want to get them out and then have the car wrapped.
